Comparing the Studio Stands

Buying a studio stand, if done proper, only needs to be done once. Doing thourough research is part of this process. This page gives you all the main details you need to know about our range of column stands. We offer five different ranges, each designed to suit specific needs and working styles. Thanks to their modular construction, our stands can be configured in a variety of ways. This guide helps you navigate the available options and select the studio stand that best fits your workflow. We will do this in three consecutive steps. First, we go through the key components of a stand. Second, we will introduce you to the different ranges of studio stands. Lastly, a comparison table will be provided.

Key Components and Configurability
Our studio stands are highly modular. You can configure your stand with different base types, column lengths and, in some models, different cross-arm options. This section goes through the key components and what the differences mean to the user experience.
Bases
Each studio stand can be equipped with different base types, depending on your preference and studio setup. The type of braking system is typically the main factor in this decision. A central braking system is our premium solution, particularly useful when the stand needs to be repositioned frequently during shoots. Alternatively, stands with individually locking wheels and crank leveling provide greater precision in uneven studio environments.
While base size and weight may seem important, the columns of each studio stand range is already matched to a base that guarantees optimal stability for its intended use.

Column length
Our studio stands are configurable based on the length of the column. For example, when high-angle shots are a more frequent part of your job, a taller stand might be your choice. Do you wish to have a customized length of the column? That's also possible. However please inquire your dealer for the possibilities.
Cross-arms
Lateral Movement
The mechanism for lateral movement of the cross-arm varies between models, for the UST/UBS it is even possible to choose the crossarm your prefer. Either the cross-arm moves via a spindle. Others move on roller bearings. Allowing you to slide the cross-arm freely from left to right after unlocking it. Many users, find the latter option more intuitive and comfortable to use.

Cross-arm Rotation
All cross-arms rotate around the axis of the column, but the method of rotation differs. On the Mono and UST models the rotation and height adjustment is controlled by the same mechanism. Hence, for these models it requires more care if you want to make small adjustments.
Other models feature a separate locking system for cross-arm rotation allowing smoother and more controlled adjustments. While this adds complexity to the design, it significantly improves usability, especially for demanding studio work. Depending on your workflow, this feature may be a valuable advantage.
Stands and their Characteristics
An overview of each studio stand range and its defining features.
Mono StandsThe MONO stands are our most compact range of studio stands. They are ideal for use in smaller spaces or for setups that need to be moved frequently. These stands are well-suited for DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Due to their lighter construction, they are less suitable for large-format cameras or heavy accessories. Still, they provide a reliable and stable platform while offering maximum mobility. |

MBX StandsThe MBX stands belong to the mid-range of our studio stand lineup. This series is a modern interpretation of the traditional studio stand, adapted for today’s lighter equipment. |

MBU StandsThe MBU studio stand is one of our most recent designs and belongs to our high-end studio stand range. It incorporates all features found in the UBS, but then in a lighter package. Therefore, it is easier to manoeuvre and optimised for the weigth of the average modern camera system. It comes standard with a cross-arm on roller bearings and the column is mounted on a newly developed welded base, equipped with a central braking system. Despite its premium features, the MBU maintains a compact footprint. It offers a stable platform for your camera system and accessories, making it a sophisticated solution for modern studios. |

UST StandsThe UST range is designed for heavy-duty use and has proven its reliability over time. Strength and stability are the key qualities of this studio stand. While it offers fewer convenience features than the UBS, it still provides a high degree of flexibility. Like the UBS, the UST also gives you the option to choose your preferred cross-arm configuration. If you prefer spindle-driven lateral movement, you can select the U-4. If you prefer smooth, free movement on roller bearings, the UBA is your choice. UST stands are also available with column heights up to 3.60 meters—one full meter taller than the tallest options in the MONO, MBX, and MBU ranges. Altogether, the UST is a dependable choice when strength, stability, and adaptability are key. |

UBS StandsThe UBS stand is a top-range model: a studio stand that offers both high-end features and great stability. Like the UST, it offers choice of cross-arm type and comes in three column lengths, with a maximum height of 3.60 meters. High-end features combined with strength and stability allows for mounting your camera system of preference while equipping the studio stand with other accessories such as laptop tables and accessory trays. A true powerhouse in the studio. |
