PCM and PCF – Cambo Precision Camera Tripod Heads

Building off the success of the PCH (Precision Control Head) launched in 2017, we are excited to announce the following two upcoming new members of the Cambo PC (Precision Control) tripod head family:

A Cambo WRS-1600 Camera mounted onto a Cambo PCH Precision Controlled Gearhead.
The original Cambo PCH (Precision Control Gearhead) in action.

The Cambo PCM tripod head combines the best parts of the PCH, in a more affordable “entry level” head, that has features far past it’s class.

The PCM (Precision Control Manual) is an entry level version of the PCH head which removes the internal gearing system while maintaining a sturdy and easy to position camera support body.

If you want the ultimate in control the Cambo PCF provides a fully geared experience across the board.

The PCF (Precision Control Full) builds on the existing PCH geared body, but adds additional geared controls to the 360º rotating platform on the top of the unit.

The whole Cambo Precision Control Family:
PCF, PCH, PCM

The new PC heads will launch alongside a newly offered QR-8 quick release plate with a 3/8″ screw (vs the standard QR-7 plate with 1/4″ screw). Both plates are based on the Arca standard and are interchangeable depending on your camera mount type.

Cambo MBX Stand

Cambo is introducing the new MBX Studio stand. This new addition fills the gap between the entry level Monostand and the larger UST/UBS stand series. The MBX stand combines several advantages of the various Cambo stands, such as a ball bearing movement for effortless vertical adjustment as well as rotation of the crossarm independently of vertical adjustments, like the Cambo UBS stand. Next to that there is a precision geared lateral movement of the crossarm. Compared to the Monostand – the crossarm now is 100cm long, which is enough to comfortably support a laptop tray on the crossarm and better positioning of the camera aside of the base for vertical shooting. The iron casted base is an improved version of the heavy Monostand base, with added weight for even more stability. Optionally it will also be possible to mount the UST’s single action base UCB by means of an adapter.

Cambo mbx

The counterweight is optimized for an average set of one medium format camera with a selection of accessories, mounted on a firm tripod head. In addition, the counterweight is easily adjustable when more load on the arm is applied, such as a laptop tray with computer.

The crossarm comes with one 3/8” camera platform, and more of these can be mounted. Also introduced is an a new optional adapter that allows to mount UST accessories to the end of the crossarm. The MBX stand is available in two lengths, being 2,1 meter (7’) and 2,7 meter (9’) from floor to top. Customized lengths are available on request.

Cambo QR-6 Quick Release Unit

There are many useful accessories manufactured by Cambo. A recent introduction to the product range is the QR-6 Quick Release Set.

On my travels I have spoken to photographers that have purchased 3rd party Arca Swiss compatible products. However when receiving them, they have found that the plate is too wide so cannot be tightened or too narrow so the camera mount cannot be inserted.

Cambo QR-6Ls

I was pretty surprised to hear this and witnessed a few well known products that had this problem. Let’s hope they have corrected these issues. The QR-6 is a true fit, engineered and measured precisely to give you reliable functionality for many years to come.

When Cambo introduced the Actus it was designed with a camera rail to be used with an Arca Swiss tripod head. At the same time, a new ball head was introduced the CBH-6 which has a quick release head. The quick release plate is used for your camera and when removed the Actus rail fits into the Arca Swiss jaw and holds the camera rail firmly in place.

Cambo CBH-6

This type of fitting has proven to be very popular with professional photographers. Cambo then decided to introduce the QR-6 quick release unit, for 2 reasons.

The first was to give an option to add the Arca QR fitting to a tripod that didn’t have it. The second was so that when you shoot on a copy stand the QR-6 fits directly to the camera platform. You don’t really want to use a ball and socket head on a copy stand as it can be very difficult to align the sensor parallel to the copy board surface.

Cambo QR-7Rs

The QR-6 has a 3/8th thread to fit to your tripod and a 1/4inch camera thread in the release plate. Measuring 55mm(w) x 60mm(l) x 26mm(h).

A spare top plate is available QR-7 if you have several cameras that require quick change over.
