The View Camera Movement: Educational Video Series

In 2016 during the Society of Photographic Education conference we had the opportunity to sit in on a round table where the topic was

“How can manufacturers help support and educate the next generation of Photographers?”

The topic of teaching aids and videos quickly came up, and it was then were the gears started turning for how Cambo could help. In partnership with Dutch Photographer and Filmmaker, Gerhard Witteveen , The View Camera Movement was started.

The View Camera Movement – Introduction from Cambo on Vimeo.

The View Camera Moment is a five video series that walks through why view cameras were and still are an important part of Architectural, Landscape, and Product Photography.

Each video in the series is designed to quickly cover a specific topic, and contain both interesting demonstrations and compelling visuals.

These videos are offered free for educational usage and can be accessed by visiting the Cambo USA EDU Portal

Students and educators can also join The View Camera Movement Facebook group for additional instruction and discussion.

What videos would you like to see more of in the future? Let us know in the comments below!

AC-784: Nikon Z Bayonet for Actus G

This AC-784 Bayonet Holder is an optional accessory for the ACTUS-G series and allows the mounting of a Nikon Z-mount Mirrorless Camera Body to the interchangeable top part of the rear standard of the ACTUS-G View camera base.

Announced earlier this year, the Nikon Z series of cameras opens up some very interesting options for Actus users. With its 16mm flange distance and full frame sensor, the Nikon Z cameras are able to make use of the entire range of Actar lenses as well as all other lens options available to the Actus platform.

More testing will be required, but the Nikon Z may even be able to take full advantage of Nikon F-mount lenses! Stay tuned for more in depth testing and results.

This adapter includes a built-in rotation between landscape and portrait position.

Note: Due to the size of the Nikon Z bayonet mount the AC-784 will not fit to the Actus-B version.

The AC-784 adaptor is shipping now. Contact your Cambo dealer for more information, or to place your order.

The ACDB-987 makes it even easier to switch from shooting with your DSLR or Mirrorless camera body to shooting with your digital back, while adding additional movements that you come to expect from a larger view camera, while not adding much additional size to the Actus you already know and love.

This adapter is compatible with:

ACTUS-GFX
ACTUS-XCD
ACTUS-G

In order to have a complete, solution users will need to add one of the below SLW-adapters:

SLW-80 for Hasselblad-V compatible digiback
SLW-89 for Hasselblad-H compatible digiback
SLW-83 for PhaseOne XF compatible digiback
SLW-84 for Sinar 30|45 compatible digiback
SLW-81 for Leaf AFi/Hy6 compatible digiback

ACDB-256 as macro extension bellows (on AC-345 monorail)

WRS-HV – WRS Lenspanel for Hasselblad V Lenses

Coming later this month, the WRS-HV lens plate allows you to mount lenses from the Hasselblad-500 series, in combination with the WRS series camera.

This combination will work with those digital backs that have an electronic shutter option, which works as a shutterless digital back, such as the PhaseOne IQ3-100 and the new IQ-4 series.

The aperture of the lenses can be set manually. The WRS-HV does not cock or fire the lens’ leaf shutter.
The practical use of lenses may be limited to those that have enough image circle coverage for the used digital back when using shifts.

The availability of Hasselblad lenses of the 500 series goes back a long time and this also gives you the opportunity to use particular old style legacy lenses, as well as very long focal lengths without the extreme physical extension of symmetric LF lenses.

Hasselblad lens not included.

Cambo Actus Rear & Base Tilt Adaptors

Cambo is expanding the ACTUS series with an optional BASE TILT Function. Often our more experienced view camera users ask how to get the most movements out of the Actus system. Previously we would have recommended the Actus XL for those who needed more control, but that option resulted in a much larger camera system. We are happy to announce that these movements are now achievable on a standard Actus for those who need them.

Cambo has designed a tilting unit that can be mounted between the existing standard and the monorail. The tilt unit offers up to 15 degrees of forward and backward tilt, in increments of 5 degrees, while keeping both standards exactly parallel.

Once the desired amount of tilt has been achieved these adaptors lock into place to stop any unintended movements.

Customers have three different options to choose from when wanting to add these movements:

AC-371  – Rear Base Tilt:

The AC-371 kit consists of a rear base tilt unit and a dedicated spacer under the front assembly to match the correct height change.
The rear base unit can be set each 5 degrees up-to 15 degrees to each side. The lock is applied in a grid pattern, so the standard is locked into position.
Additional weight:          0,26 kg
Additional height:          20 mm
Additional focus draw: 42 mm
Rear base tilt:        +15 / -15 degrees
Increments:        each 5 degrees.

AC-373 Dual Base Tilt:

AC-373 adds an extra base tilt adjustment to your Actus camera’s front and rear standards. The rear base tilt unit mounts between the rear standard focusing unit and the monorail, and in addition to the added tilt allows for an extra layer of sliding focus too.
The front base tilt unit mounts with 4 screws between the front standard and the monorail.
AC-373 gives you additional freedom of movements in applying technical camera settings. next to that, you can set indirect vertical movements by applying base tilt to both standard, increasing more vertical shift when your optics allow for that. The AC-373 kit consists of a rear base tilt unit and a front base tilt unit under the front assembly to match the correct height change
Additional weight:          0,28 kg
Additional height:          20 mm
Additional focus draw: 42 mm
Rear base tilt:        +15 / -15 degrees
Front base tilt:        +15 / -15 degrees
Increments:        each 5 degrees.

AC-375 Full Base Tilt:

AC-375 adds an extra base tilt adjustment to your Actus camera’s front and rear standards, as well as to the Tripod Mount.

The rear base tilt unit mounts between the rear standard focussing unit and the monorail, and makes an extra layer of sliding focus too.
The front base tilt unit mounts with 4 screws between the front standard and the monorail.
The tripod base tilt unit mounts to the bottom of the monorail and can slide along the full monorail length.
AC-375 gives you additional freedom of movements in applying technical camera settings. Next to that, you can set indirect vertical movements by applying base tilt to both standard, increasing more vertical shift when your optics allow for that. By simultaneously applying tilt to the tripod mount, you can keep your standards parallel and perpendicular with an inclined monorail. Ideal for yaw-free swing applications.
Additional weight AC-375:             0,48 kg
Additional height front and rear : 20 mm
Additional height tripod mount:  35 mm
Additional focus draw rear unit:    42 mm
Rear base tilt:        +15 / -15 degrees
Front base tilt:        +15 / -15 degrees
Tripod base tilt:        +15 / -15 degrees
Increments:        each 5 degrees.
